A pacific would eat that Hayes for lunch.
100 years
Really like these old work horse's
Pity the restored one has the wrong for the period engine. It should had a 12V71.
In 1967 I spent the summer driving an HD 22-70 Hayes moving oil drilling rigs in Saskatchewan. It was big, reliable, heavy steering had two winches and was so ugly, it was beautiful. I'l never forget it!
John, do you have any footage of the P9? It seems to be few and far between.
Snow runner trucks
Can't fathom changing out the kingpins on those trucks!🤯😵
Hi John, we owned the first HDX off the assembly line. It was featured in the 1967 or 1968 Truck Loggers Convention. It worked as unit#104 (Leefern Contracting) for Thasis Co., Fair Harbour B.C. I will add pics when I find them. The switchbacks had to be revamped because the frames would not flex like the conventional trucks of the day. Could not steer because one of steer axle wheels would come off the ground.

@@maximumpower102 well it was 8 years ago so lol :(
HDX and P16 have got to be the most beautiful and majestic trucks ever built. Makes me proud to be Canadian from British Columbia.
,what a lively birth
That Hayes in those colours just reminds me of growing up in Cowichan valley.
how wide are these trucks? and what is the outer rigging width?
CRM6718 As I recall, I believe that it’s 16’ wide
Thanks!!
CRM6718 I believe its 140.4 inches at rear wheels.
So cool
Not a good place to stand if it back fires the bar is going through your helpers chest !
absolutely beautiful
leave it Canadians to build the world's toughest, most beautiful log and extreme duty trucks in the world.
need some specs on the yellow truck engine transmission and rear ends
The majority of the trucks were yellow and they ran 600 Cat or Cummins engines and there were a couple V12 Detroits
90% were 12V71's.That truck has been repowered with something more modern and efficient.Trans would be a Allison 6spd auto and the rears look like Clarke BD 91,000's.I was at Pacific from 77-87 doing assembly on these trucks..There were some Cat's and some Cummins KTA powered trucks.Inline 6,V8,V12 and some V16's..It was up to the end use...
It is the very last Hayes truck built...
On these and most trucks what it the weight the has to be stopped by the CAB each time the truck brakes? How much weight in wood?
Some claim they was getting 150 ton load . Old timer said if u go around 160 ton the tire just explode .
total weight around 100 tons was common
these trees are native or are reforestation?
Both
Go Hobbes!
People think scania made good truck rofl .
Yeah, Scania makes good trucks. What about it?
@@ChrisTian-lf2oh U know Europe truck are like small cars when u talk about truck . Reliable but they just cant take the weight in real work job .
@@calom4823 Because they were designed to be over the road trucks to fulfill a different purpose.....
